Harmony Festival 2010


    The Greater Cincinnati Harmony Festival is a unique and comprehensive a cappella harmony music program for young women and men.  June 23-26 are the dates for the 2010 Harmony Festival,  the fifth time this kind of event has been held in the Greater Cincinnati area.  All the classes, rehearsals, and performances will be held in Greaves Concert Hall at Northern Kentucky University, about 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Based on the first four Festivals' resounding success,  ALMOST the same schedule will prevail in 2010, and features overnight lodging for the students in one of NKU's fine dormitories.  Day-camper registrations are also available. Registration and dorm check-in will be WEDNESDAY NIGHT to give you a full day of music on Thursday!


Girls performance      If you're a junior high or high school student who likes to sing, you'll love learning the intricacies of singing four-part a cappella harmony in the Barbershop style. It's a style of singing that can be applied to all types of music - contemporary hits, show tunes, oldies, country, spirituals, and more.
 


What You'll Learn

     In three days, you'll get professional vocal music education, rehearsals, and coaching byBoys dress rehearsal top music educators and barbershop experts. You'll learn harmony basics, singing technique, choreography, and performance skills. You'll star in a Show with other award-winning barbershop singers on Saturday night - a Show that is open to your family, friends and the public.  Perhaps best of all, you'll meet lots of other young women and men who enjoy singing.


Required Preparation

     Once you register for the Festival, you will receive sheet music and a learning CD for four songs - three songs will be sung in a Young Women's Chorus or Young Men's Chorus, depending on your gender, and one song will be sung in a big Combined Chorus.  Of importance, you'll be expected to know these songs in a voice part of your choice before the Festival.  Register as early as possible so you will have plenty of time to learn your music.  Registrations will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis.


Fees

   The Registration Fee is $195.00* and includes:
Three days of barbershop harmony singing and performance education
All meals, snacks and beverages during both days
Overnight lodging at Northern Kentucky University
Performance opportunity during Saturday evening show
Music and learning CDs for each performance piece (4 songs)
Festival T-shirt to be worn at Festival Performance on Saturday evening
  
     Sponsorship information is available upon request.

  Fee is $195 if registered by May 26, 2010; $225 after May 26.  Day campers (without lodging) fee is $145 if registered by May 26, $175 after May 27.
